A Preacher, a Vampire, and a Hitman walk into a bar....

It was pointed out to me that I kinda lost my train of thought yesterday in my post about "Preacher". I blame it on my advanced age and those damn freaky dolls.

So lets try this again....

I am in no position to give a full review since I am only up to issue #11, but I like how dark and twisted this series is.

So far it has managed to touch on religion, bestiality, racism, sex, serial killers, drinking, love, John Wayne, suicide, inbreeding, and Texas!!!!!!!!!!

As mentioned in one of the letters in the back of an issue, these are all subjects dealt with before, but it is done with such charm and bravado that every few pages I wanna call someone and talk about what just happened!!!

If that wasn't enough, the artwork is rocking! I want t-shirts!! I am tempted to buy a few issues and frame some of the images.

I said before I would love if this was on HBO and they let it be what it is. Someone was asking online what actors you would want for each character...something to think about....

BTW, I can't take credit for the title of this blog. Thank You again Jay

The only one who could ever reach me, was the son of a preacher man....

I was recently introduced to the comic book, "Preacher". Thank you Jay cos I love love love it.
I know there are girls out there who read and appreciate comics but I wish we were encourged to read them. Beats playing with dolls. Well, not including anatomically-correct dolls. When I went to google that, this crime against nature popped up. Sorry, but i find it freakish. You can find more of these at http://www.amamantafamily.com/.

Back to Preacher...funny how I find the above picture disturbing but take no offense at all to this comic. Anything with a character called "Arseface" is ok in my book. I really hope it ends up as a HBO series. Though I don't have HBO.
For you comic fans, I came across these 2 interesting sites acrossthecounter.blogspot.com/ & http://www.comicbookreligion.com/index.php?Religion=Protestant

File's done

I used to watch the X-Files on and off back in the day. Like all TV shows, it had its good and bad episodes. The new movie felt like one of those bad episodes when you wondered if all the writers had gone on vacation at the same time.

All the usual X-Files ingredients were there. Psychics, FBI schmucks, mentions of Mulder's sister, a bit of bizarre gore, questions of faith, and the opposites that attract embodied in Mulder and Scully. Sadly, the plot and dialogue were so weak that the only real mystery here is why they could not come up with something better in the years since the show went off.

X-Files was never about concrete answers, it required a leap of faith, but this time around, they never hand you anything to believe in.
