wonder how the honeymoon was

Man marries a videogame
by Ben Silverman

Buzz up!

November 23 3:24 P.M.

I now pronounce you husband and what?!

In another sign that the world is about to collapse, multiple blogs are reporting that a fan of the Nintendo DS dating sim Love Plus (you know, the really creepy one) liked his virtual lady so much that he decided to marry her. For real.

Apparently, a Japanese gamer known as 'Sal9000' was officially wed to Nene Anegasaki, one of the game's three virtual girlfriends, in what must have been the weirdest ceremony in the history of ceremonies. We can only assume that Ms. Pac-Man was the maid of honor.

While the two aren't planning a honeymoon -- after all, one of them is a VIDEO GAME -- they did hold a small 'reception' in Japan for friends, family and the media, indicating that this is most likely little more than the looniest video game publicity stunt we've seen in some time. Check out this video recap by Boing Boing, complete with footage of the happy, er, couple:

no title needed

I have to block out thoughts of you, so I don't lose my head
They crawl in like a cockroach leaving babies in my bed
Dropping little reels of tape, to remind me that I'm alone
Playing movies in my head that make a porno feel like home
There's a burning in my pride, and a nervous bleeding in my brain
An ounce of peace is all I want for you, will you never call again?
And will you never say that you loved me, just to put it in my face?
And will you never try to reach me, it is I that wanted space

Hate me today
Hate me tomorrow
Hate me for all the things I didn't do for you
Hate me in ways, yeah ways hard to swallow
Hate me so you can finally see what's good for you

I'm sober now for 3 whole months, it's one accomplishment that you helped me with
The one thing that always tore us apart is the one thing I won't touch again
In a sick way I want to thank you for holding my head up late at night
While I was busy waging wars on myself, you were trying to stop the fight
You never doubted my warped opinions on things like suicidal hate
You made me compliment myself when it was way too hard to take
So I'll drive so fucking far away that I'll never cross your mind
And do whatever it takes in your heart to leave me behind

Hate me today
Hate me tomorrow
Hate me for all the things I didn't do for you
Hate me in ways, yeah ways hard to swallow
Hate me so you can finally see what's good for you

And with a sad heart I say bye to you and wave
Kicking shadows on the street for every mistake that I had made
And like a baby boy I never was a man
Until I saw your blue eyes cry and I held your face in my hand
And then I fell down yelling, "Make it go away," just make a smile
Come back and shine just like it used to be
And then she whispered, "How can you do this to me?"

Hate me today
Hate me tomorrow
Hate me for all the things I didn't do for you
Hate me in ways, yeah ways hard to swallow
Hate me so you can finally see whats good for you.

Half empty or half full?

I think I am still recovering from Halloween! Had the best Halloween I've had in years. Well, up until the point I threw up after slamming a jack and coke. I am old enough to know better :(
Anyway, we went to the Butthole Surfers show and then did sixth street. It was a sea of insanity! Saw some awesome costumes. My posse included a beer girl, a pirate and a bowling pin. Tried to go a few places but ended up at:

Jackalope: From what I remember, awesome bar. Weird moment of the evening? Some guy asking if the bowling pin was my BF, kissing me on the cheek and giving me $20 for no reason at all. I was dressed as a librarian, not a hooker......

Have not done in update in a while but been all over.

Scholz Beer Garten: For a Saturday night, this place was dead and boring. I didn't think their beer selection deserved "beer garten" title.

Gingerman: Have not been here since before I moved away. Its in a new location and it's beer selection is like being in a liquid candy store.

Barton Springs Lounge: Can't really give much of a review. Spent our time there freezing our asses off on the patio because the inside smelled like vomit. Good times.

Uncle Billy's: Also on Barton Springs. They serve an awesome pulled pork sandwich and something I had never had before. Pulled pork queso. Cheese is your friend.

J. Blacks: Good music and we danced! Cool but kinda trendy. A couple of 60 year old men bought us all Irish Car Bombs. Drinking with the elderly is strange indeed.

I am sure I have been elsewhere but I've grown tired.

Tuesday night going to Rob Zombie!!!

Tiny, Easy-to-Build Weapons Annihilate Office Boredom

The lunchtime fridge-raider. The stapler crook. The golden parachuter. Cubicle farms are full of enemy combatants begging to be taken out. Your guide: toy designer John Austin, who spent years miniaturizing firepower for G.I. Joe and Star Wars figurines. In MiniWeapons of Mass Destruction, he describes how to cobble together a small-scale arsenal from supply-closet goodies. Here are a few of his favorite workplace munitions (deploy with caution). Ready, aim ... avenge!

You overdue Sugar!

Best holiday of the year is here and my costume is almost all the assembled! Sexy Librarian! I did a google search on costumes and quite frankly think the second pic is bullshit! Has anyone ever heard that less is more and a little mystery is good??? The first pic is more my style and what I will be wearing Saturday! Also going to have a NO. 2 pencil in my bun, a few books tied up with a belt and a overdue stamp!

Bloody Hell

Wentworth didn't join the cast of Law & Order, it was just a guest appearance (that I already missed). Oh well, the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away....

You got chocolate in my peanut butter!!!

Whoohoo! Don't you love it when two of your favorite things mix together??? I just found out today that Wentworth Miller has joined the cast of Law & Order SVU!

I've been in one of my phases where I don't watch TV and thought I really wouldn't until Lost comes back on. Well, not totally true, I turn on HGTV and can probably remodel your home but other than that, I have no clue whats out there. This totally gives me a reason to come back and also start catching up on some other shows like Nip/Tuck,Cougar Town and True Blood.

I've only ever seen Wentworth Miller on Prison Break and I am hoping he is believable in another role cos even though he is cute, it sucks when a cute guy is a one trick pony.

V

I loved loved loved this movie so this is awesome.

'V for Vendetta' teen faces disorderly charge
AP

AYER, Mass. – Police said an 18-year-old man faces a charge of disorderly conduct for donning a mask like in the movie "V for Vendetta" to terrorize residents of central Massachusetts towns of Ayer and Groton.

The Sentinel and Enterprise of Fitchburg reported Friday that the "V" sightings began Sept. 30 when a group of teenagers began wearing the masks to scare one another.

But one teen got carried away and began peering into residents' windows. Groton police assisted in the probe following a similar report from Shaw's supermarket.

Police did not identify the main suspect they said was not arrested but will face a charge of disorderly conduct for scaring and alarming his neighbors.

"V for Vendetta" was adapted from a graphic novel about a masked freedom fighter battling British fascism in the near future.

Its that time of year!

You know what would be nice at this time of night? Being able to sleep.

I have to get up in less than 6 hours to go take a government test. I would say I am busy studying but my brain is full and shit is just falling out of it...oh well. I am so psyched for whats after school. Tailgating and my first roller derby! Went and saw Whip It on Monday to get a better understanding of the game. Am ready to see those chicks kick each others ass!

May as well throw in an update:

Z'Tejas: Have been here for drinks and before but never for food. Went for a late lunch before the movie and while it was ok, was not the yumminess I expected. Did i spell that correctly???

Dog & Duck Pub: Going back soon because there are so many beers to choose from! It had a great atmosphere and the bartender really knew his beers and was very helpful in making a selection.

Back again so quickly?

Sushi Zushi:
I just ate enough sushi to feed a tribe of starving midgets. Went with my friend, brother and his GF to wish her a late b-day. I would say we ate everything but the menu at this place is huge. A tad on the expensive side for me (but it is 5th street) but everything was awesome except for the eel. I was surprised that did not turn out to be a texture thing for me cos I'm a texture freak...but it was just the taste I didn't like.

Mean Eyed Cat:
Went for a beer after dinner. Total neighborhood dive bar. Not many people but you could tell that those who were there were regulars. It seems to be old Austin. It is eclectic and has a Johnny Cash theme. Stands out compared to the modern concrete buildings it is sharing breathing space with.

Twinkies will never be the same!

I was ready for a good time going into this movie but it rocked even more than I thought it would! Blood and guts galore! Funny as all hell! Woody Harrelson was the bomb! I won't ruin the surprise cameo...
I've not seen a movie in a while that I have felt compelled to go another round with at the movie theater but don't be surprised to see me at another showing! I love falling in love with movies.

Tour de Drink

I feel like my last drinking blog lacked in description. Trying to work on my writing so going to do this while it is fresh in my mind and because I was crazy enough to wear 4 inch heels to 6th street last night and my feet are not ready to be walked on again...so stuck in bed. Here goes!

Serranos: Chain restaurant. I've only eaten there once before and can't report anything special.But...it turns out for happy hour, if you buy a drink, there are appetizers for $1.50!!!! Needless to say, there is only a few selections, the portions are small, and there isn't much effort put into them. But for a $1.50 who gives a damn! The Sunday paper cost more! So bring on the bean and cheese nachos! And I don't even like beans!

The Ranch: Well, I've been asking where all the cute guys in Austin are and it turns out they keep them herded up at the Ranch. I guess people drink during a recession because this place was packed and drinks were not cheap. Kamikaze shots were $5 :(
I guess that is really pretty average for 6th street. Good dance music. And for the record, just because I wear glasses doesn't mean I am a librarian. Then again, maybe I should appreciate that people think I am smarter than I am :)

Annie West: Next to the Ranch. What in the hell do they put in the drinks here???? Maybe it was because of the late hour (or the full moon) but I've never seen people act so crazy at a club!(well, that's not really true but that's another story). This bar is really not very big and it was also packed. Some guy had glasses on as well and thought that was a good enough reason to take pictures together. Another that was about 5 inches shorter me had a friend tell me he liked me and then kept popping up as if he was going to say something and then would scuttle off...like a rat. Umm,ok. The icing on the cake though was the guy I danced with, gave me his number, and then I watched him get into a physical fight.... with a chick. Number deleted.

Katz's Deli: I've not stepped foot in this place in over a dozen years. I used to have a ex-bf who worked there and it was enough to make me not go. I figured if he was still working there after 12 years then I could just give him shit. But I never made it that far. Some guy out front insisted on talking to me and tried to convince me he was my hero. Sorry dude, my hero does not work the street corner in front of Katz's Deli.

You can lead a horse to beer...and it will probably drink

Just haven't been out as much lately. They don't like it when you show up to school drunk.

Fado- Scalp Sugar Ray tickets. Go drinking at the Irish bar with Scottish men and then go dancing at the gay disco. Watch one 25 year old, who had been hitting on me, make out with a woman he doesn't know is really a man. Or maybe he did. Sounds about right.

Blind Pig- Reminded me that everyone is younger than me but was a good place for eye candy and dancing on the roof patio.

Trulucks- Jaspar's bartender moved over here so went for drinks. The bar is gorgeous. Great lighting which I love.

Common Interest- I can never get the name of this place right. Its usually a better crowd but was still fun. Best performance was a girl who rocked a Bjork song. Never cease to find the giant plastic syringe jello shots amusing. Thank you to my friends who came for my 80th b-day.

Tailgating- Never thought I would do it because it was too much like camping but i did it and it was fun! (though i still believe that camping is the root of all evil). Our friends do their tailgate right outside the southeast entrance of the stadium so we could see the crowd. Lots of food, beer and good company.

Real or Fake?

This seems set up to me but but who knows...

Please don't let it be me

Monday, September 21, 2009

Can't believe I am about to say this....

But I had a great time tailgating! Plus, we got to watch the second half of the Longhorns/Tech game from the 12th row at the 30th yard line! For free!!!

Wiener Crash!

MOUNT PLEASANT, Wis. – One southern Wisconsin homeowner is probably not in love with the Oscar Mayer wiener. The famed hot dog's Wienermobile crashed Friday into the deck and garage of a home in Mount Pleasant, about 35 miles south of Milwaukee.

Police said the driver was trying to turn the Wienermobile around in the driveway and thought she was moving in reverse. But she instead went forward and hit the home. It sat in the driveway as if it were stuck in the garage Friday afternoon.

No one was home and no one was injured. No citations were immediately issued.

Both the home and vehicle suffered moderate damage, which Oscar Mayer spokeswoman Sydney Lindner says insurance will cover.

Police hadn't been able to speak to the homeowner as of early Friday evening.

California: Pot tax could generate $1.4 billion

Making marijuana legal could help state fix money problems, report says.
Posted by Elizabeth Strott on Thursday, July 16, 2009 8:05 AM
California's problems could be solved with a little weed.
In a report released late Wednseday, the State Board of Equalization said that California could reap $1.4 billion in revenue from taxing and regulating marijuana. The report estimated that retail sales of marijuana would bring $990 million from a $50-per-ounce fee and $392 million in sales taxes.

And that revenue could be put toward the state's $26.3 billion budget gap.

San Francisco Democratic Assemblyman Tom Ammiano proposed a bill in February that would allow adults 21 and older to legally possess, grow and sell marijuana. "It defies reason to propose closing parks and eliminating vital services for the poor while this potential revenue is available," Ammiano said in a statement.

Hearings on Ammiano's bill are expected in the fall.

About 16 million ounces, or 500 tons, of marijuana are consumed in California each year, the Equalization Board calculated, based on law enforcement and academic studies. In 2008, law enforcement agencies seized nearly 5.3 million marijuana plants.

In late June, the state started issuing IOUs for the second time since the Great Depression and the first time in 17 years as Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and lawmakers continued to battle over the budget gap. The IOUs help the state controller stave off a deficit of nearly $3 billion for July.

Barfly

Sullivans:
I do believe I already talked about Sullivans in the past. Put I went there twice last week. Both times when they have their bar appetizer and martini specials and it really is a great deal considering. Both times I went and they seemed to be having a problem with their air conditioning. We asked the waitress about it and she said the building was old and had issues. I assumed she was going to tell us it was built in the early 1900's. No, turns out it is 13 years old. This is a sign that she needs to travel out of Texas.
Side note: The Gnocchi was yummy through I got in trouble for eating spinach.

Apple Bar:
It's as if a few gay 16 year olds opened a bar in their parents basement. And only shop at Abercrombie & Fitch.

District Bar & Grill:
For being sort of a dive, the staff has a bit of an attitude. The only thing exciting was a guy who let us give him a new first name (after a vote was taken) and then built a pyramid with straws.

Opal Divines:
I had been here once before on St. Pats day and it was packed. Not so much on a staurday afternoon. While they have a great selection to choose from, they have No frozen drinks. Not a biggie for me but friends wanted some magaritas. Btw, don't sit in the big corner both by the window. It's where all the flies hang out!

Trudy's:
I used to go here all the time with my friend Harry and company back in the day. It was our weekly wednesday round table. I have had not been since a visit to austin 2 years ago and a few of us from the old gang met up. Went to the north location this time. Same good food but the central location will always be where the memories are.

Kona:
Not much to report.Only had one drink cos it was too damn hot on the patio.

Jaspers:
New fave place to have a drink. The appetizers are yummy and happy hour on weekdays is til close. And my fave bartender is there. The 27 year old from Cool River. Hi Ian :)

El Arroyo:
I have been here 100 times and the only reason I really bring it up is because I outed the waiter.

Comal and Guadalupe Rivers:
Ok,odd mention but a floating bar in a tube is not a bad way to spend the day looking at the sky and singing Chaka Kahn with friends.
Con: having to carry the cooler when it is full of beer. Pro: Cooler is empty at the end!

Humanity is a dying art. Part 2

EUCLID, Ohio (AP) — A 75-year-old woman is accused of beating a fawn to death after finding it in the garden of her home near a wooded park.

Dorothy Richardson has been charged in a warrant with animal cruelty on June 15 at her Euclid home near the Cleveland Metroparks Euclid Creek Reservation.

Ann Mills, a Euclid animal control officer, requested the warrant.

Euclid’s cruelty to animals charge is a first-degree misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Richardson has not yet appeared in court.

She told Cleveland’s WKYC-TV she was afraid of the fawn and used a shovel to try to make it move. She said after it died she put it in a box and took it to the curb on trash day.

Humanity is a dying art. Part 1

An Ohio firefighter faces jail time and may lose his job for shooting his two dogs to death rather than pay to board them while he went on a cruise.
Columbus, Ohio, firefighter David Santuomo shot his two dogs in his home's basement, prosecutors say.

Columbus, Ohio, firefighter David Santuomo shot his two dogs in his home's basement, prosecutors say.

Columbus firefighter David P. Santuomo, 43, took Sloopy and Skeeter to his home's basement, suspended them from a pipe near the ceiling and fired at least 11 shots from a .22-caliber rifle fitted with a homemade silencer, Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney Ron J. O'Brien said.

Santuomo then wrapped the carcasses in plastic and dumped them in a trash bin behind Firehouse 27, where he worked, O'Brien said.

"This is pretty heinous," said Cheri Miller, spokeswoman for the Capital Area Humane Society, which carried out a search warrant in Santuomo's home. The humane society has limited law enforcement powers in Franklin County.

Santuomo pleaded guilty in June to two misdemeanor counts of improperly killing a companion animal and a felony count of possession of a criminal tool. Santuomo had fashioned a makeshift silencer by taping a 2-liter soda bottle to the end of the rifle. The incident happened in December.

Miller said appalled fellow firefighters turned Santuomo in to authorities.

"There were reports that he was bragging about this," she said.

Have to admit...

I seriously considered it for a moment.

Prison Break

When I first heard about the show, Prison Break, I thought, WTF?. A whole show based on breaking out of prison? That won't last long. So, I never watched.
Earlier this year, I started watching on DVD and found myself in love with the show. This was no show about some dude taking 25 years to dig out of prison with a spoon. Don't get me wrong, I loved Shawshank Redemption. But that movie was about patience and a dream. Prison break was a show with a plan. It was intelligent and had strong personalities. The plot and dialogue were well written. I took pleasure in waiting to hear what crazy twisted use of words would come out the mouth of a murdering, one handed, southern pedophile named T-Bag. How many times in your life will you get to say that?
I just finished watching the final season on DVD. All around I would say another good story. I could have gone without the flashbacks that dominated the first half of the season though I can see they were used to show motivation. It wasn't my favorite season but I am glad they ended the show before it jumped the shark. The ending was sad but all good things must come to an end. Right?

They played this song in the final scene. I thought it fitting.

If you got dreams in your heart
Why don't you share them with me?
And if dreams don't come true
I'll make sure that
You're nightmares
Are through

If you got pain in your heart
Why don't you share it with me?
And we'll just wait and see
If it's half what it used to be

And lay it down slow
Lay it down free
Lay it down easy
But lay it on me

If you've got love in your heart
Why don't you keep it with mine?
I can't promise a miracle
But I'll always be trying

And lay it down slow
Lay it down free
Lay it down easy
But lay it on me

Lay it down easy
Lay it on me

Lay it down easy
But lay it on me

A drinking life....

Its late and I am going to pissed off in the morning when i have to get my butt up out of bed.
Drinking as become a sport for me as of late and I thought I would give a little review of places I've been....

Sherlocks: Not much happening on a Saturday afternoon. We played some pool and they have $6 pitchers so I brought one for myself. Hey, I'm cheap.

North by Northwest: Beer was mighty tasty though for the life of me I can't remember what I ordered. The artichoke dip is the fricking bomb.

Spotlight: At least I think that is the name of the place. After many beers and 6 buttery nipples, I sang Karaoke and was officially banned from Cedar Park.

Baby A's: Has become the new Thursday tradition. Yeah for the Fantastico appetizer!

Pleche: Cool french absinthe bar on 4th. Nice decor and good jazz. But the cute bartender had a real gay voice. Would give Mike Tyson a run for his money.

Pangera: Another name I am not sure I have right. Hip Hop dance club. And for some reason, the place where my now gay/lesbian fan club began.

Revolution Room: In San Antonio. Nuff said.

Detour: Biker bar in Lakeway. Cheap drinks. Ugly men. And a girl told me if she was a lesbian she would be all over me. Never mind she was dry humping my leg as saying this.

Sam's Boat: Not sure I have anything really bad or good to say here. Did not try the food.

Iron Cactus: Like the one downtown but the one up north was lacking. Might have been because it was a weeknight. Patio looked nice.

Kahuna: Good happy hour specials and the jalapeno poppers are the best I've ever had!

Little Woodrows: Beer makes me happy. Huge patio at Parmer location.

Cool River: Old men, old women. But when the bartender is hooking you up and a hot 27 year old is nice to an old lady like myself, well, things are not so bad. Plus, it is the 3rd bar in Austin I've been to lately that you can smoke. Not that I smoke.

Canary Roost: Drinks are pretty cheap and it was some of the most disturbing karaoke I've ever heard.

Illusions: A cave like black club in Pflugerville. $2 drinks on Wednesdays plus karaoke. The best part was that some guy named Jo-Jo made some amazing enchilada casserole for everyone!

Kuno's: In Round Rock. Don't go. Long story for another time but you might find yourself at some people's house and have to escape (really, i did) because there was a possibility some really bad shit was gonna go down.

I just realized: Part 2

That today is my ex-husbands b-day. (funny how it is on the same day as last year)

That I have taken 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

That Wentworth Miller needs to call me.

That I don't believe in the same things I believed in a year ago.

That sometimes people are not who you think they are or even who they think they are.

That Morning Star sausages are not bad at 4am if you throw some Rudy's sauce on them

That I have some reason for being here, I just don't know what it is yet.

That I don't have the love to give that I used to.

And there ain't nothing like regret to remind you you're alive

I spent a year in the mouth of a whale
With a flame and a book of signs
You'll never know how hard I've failed
Trying to make up for lost time

Once I believed in things unseen
I was blinded by the dark
Out of the multitude
He came and broke my heart

When the dust in the field has flown
And the youngest of hearts has grown
And you doubt you will ever be free
Don't bail on me

River is wide and oh so deep
And it winds and winds around
I dream we're happy in my sleep
Floating down and down and down

And the tide rushes by where we stand
And the earth underneath turns to sand
And we're waiting for someone to see
Honey, Don't bail on me.

Tell ma I loved the man
Even though I turned and ran
Lovely and fine I could have been
Laying down in the palm of his hand
Staying down in the palm of his hand

In the morning you wait for the sun
And secretly hope it won't come
But time washes everyone clean
Don't bail on me

You and you Alone

isn't a shame
can't get in the game
even when the rules are bent
you give your turn away
and all you feel is blame

unless there's a mirror there to force
your weary eyes to close
so you don't have to bear
the life that you have chosen
and even through you tried not to hurt a soul
you've only saved the pain for you and you alone

isn't that the way
your sadness seems to stay
it takes ahold of every bit
of hope you might have saved
and all you feel is blame

unless there's a door that you can close
and rest against within
away from everything
just like a second skin

and even through you tried
not to hurt a soul
you've only saved the hate for you and you alone

aren't you the best you can be?
or are you someone like me?
who can't feel a thing
whose arms reach to hold
and saved all their love
for you and you alone

wasn't there a day
when you could safely say
that you were part of everything
without a role to play
now all you feel is blame

for everyone whose life you touched
to only run away
to hide there in the dark
and think that that's the way
to cope with what seems now
the only place you'll know
the burden and the pain
of you and you alone

and even through you try
not to hurt a soul
you've only saved the pain
for you and you alone

YOU AND YOU ALONE- BUTTERCUP
